Best Realtors in Airdrie: How to Choose

What the best Airdrie realtors do differently, the questions to ask, and how we help Airdrie buyers and sellers.
By Tod Hall and Tausha Hall, TNT Real Estate Pros | Real Broker

The best realtor in Airdrie knows the city community by community, prices homes with recent Airdrie sales instead of Calgary averages, understands how new builds and resale homes compete here, and can plan a move between Airdrie and Calgary in either direction. Here's what to look for, the questions worth asking, and how we help Airdrie buyers and sellers.

What to look for

What the best Airdrie realtors do differently

01

They know Airdrie community by community

From established areas like Old Town, Meadowbrook and Big Springs to newer ones like King's Heights, Coopers Crossing, Reunion and Bayside.

02

They price with Airdrie sales

Airdrie has its own market. The right price comes from recent sales nearby, not Calgary-wide numbers.

03

They know new builds and resale

What a builder's price includes, what a resale home already has, and how the two compare for buyers and sellers.

04

They understand the commute

How long the drive into Calgary takes from different parts of the city, and where Airdrie Transit's Intercity Express runs.

05

They can handle both sides of a move

Selling in Calgary and buying in Airdrie, or the reverse, planned together so the dates line up.

06

They communicate on a schedule

You shouldn't have to chase anyone for an update, whether you're buying or selling.

Before you choose

Questions to ask an Airdrie realtor

  1. 1Which Airdrie communities would you suggest for what I'm looking for, and why?
  2. 2Which recent Airdrie sales are you using to price or value this home?
  3. 3How does a resale home here compare with buying new from a builder?
  4. 4If I'm looking at new homes, how will you represent me with the builder?
  5. 5How will you market my Airdrie home to buyers coming from Calgary?
  6. 6Can you help me sell in Calgary and buy in Airdrie, or the reverse?
  7. 7Who will I actually be working with day to day?

Red flags

Watch for an agent who:

  • Prices with Calgary-wide numbers instead of Airdrie sales
  • Doesn't know the newer communities or what's being built nearby
  • Sends you into a showhome without explaining who represents you
  • Is hard to reach when homes are moving quickly

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is Airdrie part of Calgary?

No. Airdrie is its own city, just north of Calgary along the Queen Elizabeth II Highway (Highway 2), with its own city government, property taxes and services.

How do people commute from Airdrie to Calgary?

Most people drive in on the QEII and Deerfoot Trail. Airdrie Transit's Intercity Express (ICE) also runs commuter buses to Calgary. Check Airdrie Transit for current routes and schedules.

Is Airdrie still growing?

Yes. Its population grew from 61,581 to 74,100 between the 2016 and 2021 federal censuses, about 20%, and new communities are still being built.

Should I buy new or resale in Airdrie?

It depends on what matters most to you. New homes come with new home warranty coverage and a chance to choose finishes. Resale homes often already have landscaping, fencing and window coverings, and you can move in sooner. We'll compare both with you.
