Choose an Airdrie realtor who knows the newer communities (Chinook Gate, Cobblestone Creek, Wildflower, Southwinds) as well as established ones, can compare new builds with resales, and is honest about the Highway 2 commute. Airdrie is a city about 10 km north of Calgary's city limits on the Queen Elizabeth II Highway (Highway 2). It had 74,100 residents in the 2021 federal census, and its 2026 municipal census counted 93,957, making it one of the fastest-growing communities in the Calgary region. It's known for family-oriented neighbourhoods, Nose Creek Regional Park and its December Festival of Lights.

Schools

  • Public schools are run by Rocky View Schools, including W.H. Croxford High School, which opened in southwest Airdrie in 2014
  • Catholic schools are run by the Calgary Catholic School District, including St. Martin de Porres High School
  • École des Hautes-Plaines (K-12) is run by Conseil scolaire FrancoSud
  • Rocky View Schools is building a 1,810-space high school in Southwinds (expected fall 2029), plus K-9 schools in South Windsong and Bayview

Is Airdrie still growing?

Yes. Its population grew from 61,581 to 74,100 between the 2016 and 2021 federal censuses, about 20%, and new communities are still being built.

Should I buy new or resale in Airdrie?

It depends on what matters most to you. New homes come with new home warranty coverage and a chance to choose finishes. Resale homes often already have landscaping, fencing and window coverings, and you can move in sooner. We'll compare both with you.
