Hillhurst is one of Calgary's oldest inner-city communities, just across the Bow River from downtown, between 10 Street NW and 18 Street NW. Felix McHugh homesteaded here in 1883, Ezra Riley's family later farmed the land, and Calgary annexed the area in 1907. About 5,475 people lived here in 2021. It's known for the Kensington shopping and dining district, Riley Park and character homes mixed with newer infills and condos.
